Joanne Higgins Schmitt, age 78, of Cumberland, IN passed away June 14, 2018 at home surrounded by family and pets. She was born March 10th, 1940 in New Point IN; the daughter of Gayle & Bessie Mae (Griffin) Dugle.
She is survived by her husband of 20 years Gerd C Schmitt of Sun City Center FL; sons Mark (Marilyn) & Doug (Kim); 4 grandchildren John Higgins, Donovan Higgins, Megan Werner and Derek Higgins; 4 great grandsons Rowan Werner, Nolan Higgins, Henry Higgins and Braxton Werner and her surviving sibling Donnie Dugle of Shelbyville KY.
Joanne was preceded in death by her first husband James Allen Higgins, her parents, and 13 siblings.
The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. to Noon Saturday, June 23, 2018 at the Cumberland Christian Church 39 N Starter Street Cumberland IN with a Memorial Service at 12:00 Noon and lunch at the church immediately following.
